Jennifer Cullen (Brooke Burns) is a corporate analyst and a single, working mom who has become somewhat of a Scrooge when it comes to the Holiday season. Even her six-year-old son Brian is having trouble believing in Santa Claus. When Jen’s Uncle Ralph (Henry Winkler), a retired police officer, comes to visit for Christmas, he brings along a new friend, a nomad and Jack-of-all-trades named Morgan Derby (Warren Christie).

A comical and cute holiday romance for the family. Henry Winkler ( The Fonz, from “Happy Days’) is wonderful as the endearing Uncle Ralph and Warren Christie is great as the carefree Morgan. Together these two bring the Christmas season to life for the audience along with Jen and her son Brian. You will laugh at the tactics that Uncle Ralph goes to, to keep Morgan at Jen’s for Christmas.

Truly a fun and heartwarming Christmas movie for the entire family, this movie is Dove “Family-Approved”

There aren’t any references to faith and the true meaning of Christmas. It makes comedy of some of the extravagant and outlandish excess of the season.

Song:

“The Most wonderful time of the year”

Questions:

  1. If you could change one thing about excess Christmas celebrations, what would it be?
  2. What is your worst memory or fear of making a Christmas dinner?
  3. Do you have a favorite uncle or other family member that makes you laugh like Uncle Ralph?
  4. What part of Christmas celebrations do you include because it’s what everyone does or is expected, but doesn’t give any meaning to you personally?

Prayer:

God, thank you for the gift of laughter and loved ones who hang in with us despite our faults.  Help us to remember the reason for the season is Jesus.
